I was a little surprised by the restraint that the Russians showed during the initial weeks of their Ukraine invasion. That was not the Russian army that I have read about over the years.
This is the Russian army that I expected and it seems like they are living up to their history.

It's funny. I have a relative that travels quite a bit. The amount is low compared to that of the average Liberal that is part of the Global Warming cult (John Kerry, Obama, all of Hollywood etc) but still much higher than what I do.
Anyway, this individual always tells me how much better everywhere else is and how much more fair their tax and healthcare system is. Don't get me started on the "Equity."

Might As Well Turn The US Army Into A 3rd World Military For A 3rd World Nation
I read an interesting article several years ago about the Israeli Army. The author stated the Israeli's routinely beat larger Muslim armies over the years because the Israeli's were fighting for their country, each other and their families. The Muslims on the other hand were more concerned about family, tribe, religion and maybe their country if there wasn't another issue to first consider.
The Muslim armies across the Middle East were largely led by an officer class that was loyal to whatever monarch, despot or Ayatollah ruled their nation. These governments promoted their military leaders by loyalty to the rulers instead of competence. This is why their armies failed so often. They were poorly led and no one was really fighting for their nation.
You can say the same thing for the Russian army in the early days of WWII. Stalin had purged (murdered/enslaved) the military of anyone that could be a threat. This cost the Soviet Union dearly in the opening months of the second world war. It's funny, Stalin actually brought some officers back from the Gulags to fight the Nazis.
Now we have the US military. Obama gutted the military leadership during his reign. He fired/forced out almost 200 flag grade officers (Generals/Admirals) and while this left a lot behind, it also set the tone for what was expected to succeed with him in the White House. This is why we have the Mileys and Austins in charge. But it's not just about who is in charge. It's also about who is getting promoted year after year. It is also about who gets to eventually retire and later work in some cushy defense industry job without being blackballed by a Progressive Administration.
Toe the line or get out and drive for Uber in retirement.
Anyway, believe what you will but the more we concentrate on woke bu!!shit over competence and war fighting, the more likely we are to lose in our next big fight.
The US military, at it's core, exists to do two things... break shit and kill people. Those in support roles exist to support those that kill people and break shit. It doesn't exist for gender experiments and social justice garbage that drives morale down and separates the soldiers from their brothers in arms.
