"Instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit."
That's it? This statement is what all of the fuss is about? Where is the part about slavery being beneficial to slaves? That couldn't be yet another lie could it? The statement above says that the skills, in some instances, could be applied for a slave's personal benefit. No one would expect a slave to live the life of a Biden or Obama because he/she was a good tailer or cook. The slave could, however, expect a little better life due to being of greater value due to having a skill. This could be something like sewing clothing indoors in the shade rather than working all day in a field. It could also be not worrying about being sold to another plantation because he is a good blacksmith or having more food due to being the cook. Regardless, these examples show that there is a "Benefit" to having a skill and being more valuable than your peers.

The author is wrong about Japan being defeated and on the verge of surrender. His quote about Eisenhower was interesting but guess what? Eisenhower wasn't in the Pacific theater. Those that watched American bodies pile up on beachheads across the Pacific disagreed with Ike. The men (of all ranks) that slogged and fought their way across the Pacific, island by island, had a strong argument for the Japanese not being willing to surrender. It's called Okinawa. Do a search and see how many Japanese were willing to surrender on this tiny bit of their homeland.
I suppose weeks of firebombing the Japanese islands was preferable to dropping two nuclear bombs?
145,000 deaths were caused by the A-bomb at Hiroshima. Another 75,000 were killed at Nagasaki. Pretty horrible but small scale compared to the firebombing campaign that was in progress and the planned increase in raids.
80,000 - 130,000 Japanese were killed in one night of firebombing on a Tokyo raid and the Japanese government did not surrender. Hell, the Japanese didn't even surrender after the first atomic bomb was dropped. It took a repeat to force an end to the fighting.
BTW, army officers rebelled and attempted to seize both the Emperor and a recording of his surrender speech to the country. This coup failed but clearly shows how some in the Japanese Army were willing to take the unthinkable step of disobeying the Emperor in order to fight on.
Those that were actually in the Pacific theater claimed that it was likely that the allies would have lost over a million troops when trying to take the islands. Millions more Japanese would have perished and it's likely that the Soviet Union would have occupied Northern Japan leading to a situation like the Korean peninsula.

I couldn't find anything in the curriculum about slaves bettering their position by learning skills.
Left Wing Commissars Losing Their Jobs?
This makes sense. In spite of the claims of "Bidenomics," the country is not doing well. DEI commissars add nothing of value to a company other than allowing them to check a few woke boxes for their Lib customers.
The DEI employee doesn't have to make a sales quota, assemble widgets on an assembly line, design buildings, etc. All that this person has to do is cry racism every once in a while. The commissar is more likely to cause racial division in the workplace than actually do anything useful. On top of that, it's unlikely (IMO) that they are the best and brightest of the business world. I seriously doubt that there are high standards involved in getting a degree in this field.
YMMV.
I'd lay them off before anyone else would be let go and wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

A Few Unsaid Things About The "Wealth Gap"
So why is there a "Wealth Gap" between Whites and Blacks? I don't know all of the reasons, but I do know that systemic racism isn't the leading cause (or even real).
1) Whites graduate HS 3 levels higher than Black students (and Asians beat both groups).
2) Whites marry at almost twice the rate of Blacks.
3) Whites marry the mother/father of their children at the rate of 76%. Black children are born of wedlock at the rate of 68%.
4) 50% of Black people have never been married compared to 28% of Whites.
5) Most White people are in their upper 50s while the majority of Black people are in their upper 30s.
6) The crime rate in the Black community is ridiculous. Having a criminal record effects both hiring and income.
7) I'm not even going to go into the drop out rate. Our K-12 education system is so badly rigged ("We're not giving 0's for not doing the work." "We're decolonizing math.") that it's pointless to pretend that whatever numbers are out there are actually legit.
I may go back and add a few more items if the mood hits me.

That is a Denzel Washington quote. I really don't know if he's a Liberal. I would guess that pics of him in MAGA hats or Tea Party gear are few and far between. If he is a Liberal then he's not one of "Today's" crop of FSA failure Libs.
He has so many wonderful quotes on life and parenting that I wonder where he found the time to act.

I'll make this quick. Cops are underpaid and if some idiotic politician decides to "Defund" the police and cut pay or staffing then they need to bear the consequences of their actions. No "Private Security" for them at tax payer expense.
If you pay cops a good wage then they won't need to have a side hustle in order to make ends meet. They shouldn't need 70 hour work weeks every single week. Perhaps the officers could do wild and crazy things like decompress while off, work out, train and do all of those things that make an officer more professional. Do you ever wonder why 2-3 cops can't get the cuffs on one skinny criminal? How much weight training or BJJ do you think that these cops are doing while off? Very little if every week entails mandatory OT for staffing shortages or chosen OT due to low wages.
Pay the best, hire the best and hold them accountable for their actions. You'll stop getting cops that are hitting women in the face while they're holding a baby.
But...
If you're actually paying for the best then you need to hire the best. This doesn't mean hiring the best of a certain race or gender. It doesn't mean that you're hiring the best Somali-American cop or the one that's covered in glitter with 17 pronouns. You need the most qualified officer that you can find for a given wage. Period. Otherwise you are just wasting your time.
