The accuracy of this vid is a bit lacking.
AR15s were not banned by Clinton in the 1990s. ARs, AKs, etc. were still available along with the full capacity magazines for these weapons. The cosmetic features such as pistol grips, flash suppressers and bayonet lugs were banned and removed from newly manufactured weapons after a certain date. The same holds true for newly produced magazines (clips) that held more than 10 rounds after the AWB law took effect.
Guess what?
The law did nothing. If you had 30 round magazines before the law took effect then they were grandfathered in. If you wanted to buy 30 round AR mags after the law took effect then they were readily available but cost about 3x as much (in my area). The manufacturers were producing magazines as fast as possible to beat the deadline of the Assault Weapon Ban. I don't believe that there was ever a point during the life of the AWB when you couldn't find normal capacity magazines at inflated prices for popular handguns and rifles.
As for the so called Assault Weapons, the gun makers removed the pistol grips, bayonet lugs and flash hiders from new weapons to comply with the law. They added thumbhole stocks to the rifles in place of the pistol grips and continued selling their weapons.
Pistols not being sold with magazines greater than 10 rounds was not discussed in the video. This is probably because some don't want to tell gun owners that their Glock was/is an evil "Assault Weapon" and included under the AWB law.
If someone wanted a Glock, Sig, Ruger, etc. with full capacity mags then the magazines were still available for weapons that were on the market prior to the Assault Weapon Ban taking place. The mags for these weapons were also about 3x the normal price after the Clinton ban.
Newly designed handguns hitting the market place after the AWB took effect could only be sold with 10 round magazines and there were no normal capacity (15, 17rnd, etc.) available for anyone that wasn't law enforcement.
None of this is a secret. The AWB of the 1990s did nothing to reduce crime, murder or mayhem. The MSM has twisted the truth since the law ended under Bush (43).
Your mileage may vary.
