Our states have different laws because many, if not most, of our states are larger than European countries. It's ridiculous to think that some corrupt politicians in Washington, DC can make a one size fits all set of laws for a country that exists in 12 different time zones. Our list of states encompass everywhere from deserts to Pacific Islands.
Yes, we really put peanut butter and jelly on sandwiches. It's mainly children that do it. Don't judge them too harshly for this.
Very few people say that we're, "Speaking American." Those that do so are usually saying it in jest but there is a big difference in spoken English from Great Britian and the USA.
Most of us drink coffee. I have no idea how most people make tea. I've seen my wife make it a few different ways but most of us don't care much about tea unless it's iced and well sugared.
Apple does not have more money than the US government but our large companies do seem to be allowed to keep more of their profits than large European companies do. Perhaps this is why Europe is not the powerhouse of innovation that the USA is. I will say that most of our politicians are bought and owned by the wealthy (Democrats especially). Laws are written to benefit wealthy donors.
Why is large not big enough? Marketing.
If a sales tax wasn't added at the register then those that pay it would be more pissed off at the government than they are when it's added at the register. Usually when the sales tax is seen a customrer has a cart full of groceries, their debit card out and a line of people behind them. It's a bit late at this point to start putting things back on the shelves.

Frankfurters should be grilled but children will often have their frankfurters boiled by tired single moms trying to get a quick meal on the table before collapsing in front of the TV at the end of the day.
Our education system is currently teaching children to hate their country in addition to grooming them for gay sex later in life. It's hit or miss about pledging allegiance to the flag. Some do. Some don't.
Our children have largely moved on to using curse words instead of calling people jerks and losers. Our Liberal run education system is partly to blame for this.
