Bear in mind that men and women joining the military are expected to give up many of the rights, comforts and freedoms that most Americans take for granted day after day. They can also expect to possibly risk their lives and be sent to war. These young people sign up for a myriad of reasons from patriotism to earning college tuition.
The armed forces (except for the Marines) are in a recruiting crisis largely due to young White men not signing up (bear in mind that White men and teens are 2/3 Conservative in their views). What is behind this failure to make recruiting quotas? What has our government screwed up now. If a young man or woman wants to be called racist every day and work for an organization that supports quotas over merit then corporate America awaits. They don't have to join the military. It appears that they know that.
