Let's assume that the female Secret Service Agents at the rally were the most competent agents on the field that day... in spite of the videos.
Even if they were the fastest, best thinkers and best shots they still come up short... literally.
The female agents were not tall enough to shield Trump with their bodies. That should have been a prerequisite for the job. Looking at their appearance, it's unlikely that they could carry or even drag him far.
That doesn't mean that they have no use.
I would not have put them on the rope line away from the stage since it's likely that they would not have been able to see over the heads of any men at the line.
They might, however, been useful moving throughout the crowd. Long hair could cover their earpieces and a frumpy appearance would prevent most second looks.
