Studies have shown that shooters do better with night sights over the stock blacked out fare that generally come on a base handgun. Bear in mind that night sights aren't really meant for use in an entirely lightless environment. They are intended for low light conditions in which most of find ourselves in daily. I find that they're well worth the money.
It's worth remembering that night sights, like everything else, have a shelf life. They don't work forever so this is something to consider when buying a used firearm with night sights.
