The Bud Light Boycott...Why?

Nolte: Bud Light Boycott Cost Tranheuser-Busch $1.4 Billion (breitbart.com)

I've thought about writing something on this topic for quite a while but sloth and apathy are hard forces to overcome. Most of those participating in the Bud Light boycott know why they do so and the people that support/supported Budweiser are aware of their views on the subject. This is aimed at those in the clueless middle.

Let me explain something weird about human beings. For some reason, we find the need to attach ourselves to causes and brands. You'll see men and women proudly wearing some sneaker made by child labor in Asia or sporting a tattoo of a motorcycle brand. I have one family member that owns a $3000 purse (WTF?). I don't know why we, as a people, feel the need to waste money covering ourselves in labels and logos but we do.

At the more affluent end of the scale, it's Lambos, Rolexes and brands that I've never heard of as a working man. At the poorer end of the spectrum, it's Bud Light, Jack Daniels and Carhart (if one can afford it). This doesn't have to make sense. It is what it is. Hell, Balenciaga is still around after their weird pedo (?) seeming add campaign. I can't believe that people still want to associate themselves with Disney or the DNC.

Soooo.... you had tens of millions of American men (and some women) happily drinking Bud Light and remembering better days whenever they popped the top on this mediocre beer. Smell and taste are powerful tools in bringing back memories. Perhaps the Budweiser drinkers remembered college days when their hairline was lower and responsibilities and debts were not dragging them down. Maybe the taste of Bud Light took them back to the time that they were tubing on the river with friends or sharing a beer with their dad on the front porch. It's even possible that they thought that this was good beer. Stranger things have happened.

So they associated themselves with the brand. It became a small part of their working class identity along with Carhart jackets, Redwing shoes (if they can be afforded) and Ford trucks.

Then...

Budweiser picks an annoying little transvestite to represent their company in a small way. Let me back up a bit.  Dylan Mulvaney is prissy and annoying as Hell to a great many people, but never deserved the abuse that was showered upon him. There's a wide world of annoying people out there. He wasn't out there grooming kids as so many teachers, schools and large entertainment companies seem to do today. He wasn't facilitating child sex trafficking on our border as some in DC are wont to do. The man was not selling out our nation to foreign powers across the globe. He was just very irritating (IMO) and not someone that most blue collared Bud drinkers want to be seen as or associated with. He was, harmless overall and got caught up in something bigger.

Sooo... Dylan became the straw that broke the camel's back. Blue collar men (and women) are working hard every day, destroying their bodies with physical labor and looking forward to retiring slightly above the poverty line (if they live that long). Perhaps they have fond memories of better days drinking Bud Light with friends and family members. Maybe this cheap beer is wrapped in their identity like a sports team, clothing brand or automobile. Then Dylan comes along and they find themselves inadvertently associated with this odd little fellow. Their identity is threatened and they rebel.

The boycott is on!!!

IT'S ABOUT THE BEER but not really all about the beer. It's about the powers that be constantly shoving sexual agendas down our throats and at our kids. It's about being crapped on by those driving up food and gas prices. It's about having home and auto loans become more expensive and good jobs being seen a lot less often. It is about people being fed up with so much and on so many different levels. Now they get to poke a finger in the eye of the (woke) establishment, their failed policies and ridiculous agendas. And to some extent ... it's about having your identity wrapped up with that of an annoying little man in a bubble bath.

Is all of this real or just the ramblings of someone with too much time on their hands? Dunno. These boycotters have remained resolute even in the instance of Budweiser almost giving their beer away.

The boycott largely stands (and works) because of everything that I said above and a few other things that should be obvious to all.

It's easy to boycott Budweiser. Their beer is average at best, there's other brands out there at a similar price. The company is no longer American owned so good luck wrapping Bud Light up in the flag and patriotism.

There's better tasting beer out there. A blind man could find them. They're that prevalent. Many boycotters that have sampled other wares are not coming back to average tasting beer.

Boycotting Bud has become mainstream and a way to piss off friends, family, coworkers and neighbors on the Left without putting any real effort into it. Yes, those that support Mulvaney, Budweiser and all of the failed policies mentioned earlier are generally on the Left. Guess what? They don't buy Budweiser either. LOL.

I'll say it again. Mulvaney really didn't deserve the abuse that came his way. I wish him the best but really don't want to see him "Influencing" anyone.

As for Budweiser, I didn't drink their beer before the boycott and I doubt that I'll drink it anytime in the future. I outgrew the brand when I developed taste buds in my mid 20's and started making more money. I will say, however, that I enjoy seeing the warning that the boycotters have sent to other corporations across this country. That shot across their bow puts a warm glow in my heart.

YMMV.
